Professor Juan Carlos Miñano was awarded the 2014 Joseph Fraunhofer Award/Robert M. Burley Prize. The prize recognizes significant research accomplishments in the field of optical engineering. The Fraunhofer Award was established in 1982. The accompanying prize was established in 1992, and honors the memory of Robert M. Burley, who exemplified many of the highest attributes of the optical engineer and was the first recipient of the Fraunhofer Award.
Prof. Miñano is being honored “for the discovery of exceptional new design methods and devices in both nonimaging and imaging optics over more than three decades, with special emphasis in freeform surface design”.
