A world leader in the field of nonimaging (anidolic) optics LPI was founded in 1999 to provide leading-edge optical designs and components, especially in the field of nonimaging optics. Through its subsidiary, LPI Precision Optics (LPIPO), based in Hong Kong, LPI is able to turn its designs into reality using LPIPO's world class mold and insert fabrication facility. Located in the prestigious Hong Kong Science & Technology Park, it has the latest in CNC fabrication machinery, including a 5-axis Moore Nanotech 350 FG diamond turning machine. LPIPO produces a wide range of optics for industry based on LPI's proprietary optical architectures. LPI-designed optical components (made by LPIPO) are already in use in a variety of products. One such example is the main lens of the super-thin CHMSL on the new GM Chevy SSR truck. Another example is the high efficiency compact collimator in the "CHIP" solid state lighting lamps, distributed worldwide by OptiLED, (see www.optiled.biz). LPI has also done pioneering research and development work in several fields including advanced development of automotive optical architectures for LED headlamps (achieving a 75% efficient lowbeam which has passed the SAE and DOT standards) and daytime running lights, both developed in conjunction with Schefenacker and General Motors. LPI's technical staff and associates, 8 of whom at present hold PhD's, are active contributors to major optical conferences (especially those of SPIE and OSA), as chairpersons, speakers, and authors of technical papers. A number of our staff are authors of books on optics and related subjects, and continue to publish works in the field of nonimaging optics. LPI maintains two world-class research and development optical groups, one in the US in Irvine, California and the other in Europe in Madrid, Spain, to support projects in North America, Europe and Asia. The LPIPO facility, with its 850 square meters of high-precision equipment, also has several high-level specialists in optical fabrication technologies for the production of macro-, micro-, and diffractive optics.
